Is This Group For You?
Experiences May Include
religious or spiritual communities • workplaces • healthcare systems • schools • helping professions • other trusted organizations or communities
What We’ll Explore
This four-week group is for adults who have experienced harm, betrayal, or profound disillusionment within a trusted institution or community and are struggling with the resulting impact on safety, trust, identity, belonging, values, or their relationship with themselves.
What To Expect
Over four weeks, we’ll explore the impact of institutional betrayal on trust, safety, identity, belonging, values, anger, grief, and self-blame. We’ll also explore moral injury—what can happen when an experience violates deeply held values or when a trusted person, community,
or system fails to act in accordance with them.
The group will incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS), a compassionate approach that helps us understand the different ways we learned to protect ourselves in response to painful experiences. Together, we’ll begin identifying these protective responses, making space for grief and anger, and rebuilding trust in ourselves.
