About Me
I’m Melissa Johnson, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I offer therapy services to adult individuals, clinical consultation to therapists, and clinical supervision to social workers in Kentucky and Indiana. My psychotherapy focus is dedicated to people who are experiencing life transitions, grief and loss, addiction recovery, and the courageous journey of healing.
I started my career working with college-aged people struggling with the effects of interpersonal violence. I have worked in end-of-life care where I facilitated grief and loss services for people who were dying and their families. Additionally, I believe in participating in advocacy for social work practitioners. I served as Executive Director for the National Association of Social Workers Kentucky Chapter and President of the Clinical Social Work Association Board. Now I am a full-time private practitioner providing psychotherapy to individuals looking to heal, grow, and thrive.
Clients and colleagues tell me I offer a warm and inviting space to heal and grow. My goal is to offer the opportunity to understand what is confusing, transform trauma and loss, and learn how to thrive.
My practice is centered on the Internal Family Systems modality, which offers a clear, non-pathologizing, and empowering method of understanding human problems, as well as an innovative and enriching philosophy of practice that invites both therapist and client to enter into a transformational relationship in which healing can occur. As of 2023, I am an Internal Family Systems Certified Therapist. Also, I am trained in EMDR Level One.
